New Mexico Caregivers Coalition waives all liability for any respite provider — individual or agency — hired through this respite provider registry. It is the consumer’s/care recipient’s responsibility to conduct due diligence on the individual or agency prior to employing them. New Mexico Caregivers Coalition strongly encourages consumers/care recipients and/or their family members to conduct a background check and to obtain references before hiring any individual or agency from this registry.

Caregiving Experience/History
-10yrs experience home health care working with a child with Rett syndrome (similar traits to Autism). Non-verbal, low functioning, total care needs: exercising; cooking/feeding; dressing; and all toiletry needs. This was employment through Mountain Home Health Care and the position demanded much patience and caring.
-4yrs experience family caregiving for mother. Transferring out of bed to wheel chair, chairs and toilet, assist w/ hygiene and bathing, cooking and cleaning- managing affairs at home, drove her to appointments, read aloud and puzzles. Once moved to facility, I was present daily and dependable for any immediate needs and emotional support until her passing at 94yrs old.
-Over the years it has been an honor to care for those in end of life stages with much patience and appreciation, it has been important to make all of those I've cared for as engaged and comfortable as can be, while being emotionally present and supportive, those whom I consider my best teachers.

Bio
I've lived in North Central New Mexico since 1989 and am a versatile, energetic 67yrs old now living with 3 cats! Half Latina, can understand more Spanish than can speak it. I am interested in many things: most people, the natural world, science, history, arts and culture. All of the respite care I have done has been a learning experience I am grateful for and have appreciated each experience.
